Category: Jeep

Well-known for its rugged body and massive performance, Jeep is an American vehicle that is manufactured by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which is an Italian–American Corporation.

For over 3 decades since Chrysler took over the Jeep brand and all the assets from the original owner American Motors Corporation (AMC), Jeep has remained a formidable player in the automotive world.

Today, Jeep has expanded its assortment of products to sport utility vehicles that, unlike their previous predecessors, are more classy yet powerful. This is not to say that the company does not produce the traditional off-road jeeps such as trucks, which are expected to be manufactured once again in the year 2019.

Nonetheless, Jeep has crafted a name for itself in the luxurious SUV category with the Grand Cherokee featuring as a top contender. It’s for this reason that sales in 2016 went up to 1.4 million compared to 500,000 in the year 2008. Of the 1.4 million sales, close to two-thirds of the sales were in America. This became Fiat-Chrysler’s best selling product in the US early in 2017.

Jeep Models with the Best Ground Clearance

One of the most crucial aspects of an off-road vehicle is ground clearance. It goes without saying that the undercarriage of any vehicle could be well protected and one such way is by having a good ground clearance.

With a poor clearance, minor bumps such as parking stop will often make the driver worry a lot of damaging the underneath of the vehicle. Having a reputation for off-road driving, ground clearance is of utter importance. Even so, many Jeep enthusiasts have little knowledge of which models have the highest and lowest ground clearance models. Here’s a sneak peek.

Jeep Cherokee

Of all the Cherokee brands, the Trail hawk has been designed to have the highest ground clearance. With a 1-inch suspension in place and additional skid plates to create more room, you can enjoy cruising over any off-road terrain in the Jeep Cherokee with 8.7 inches ground level.

Jeep Compass

With an 8.2-inch ground clearance level, the Jeep Compass 2017 model has been upgraded from its previous version. Even better is the Jeep Compass Trail Hawk Trim that offers a remarkable 8.5 inches of ground clearance. To make the undercarriage even more secure, the Jeep Compass Trail Hawk comes darned with underbody plates and fascia boards.

Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited

Unlike the Trail hawk Trim, these two brands have the Rubicon Trail hawk. Even though the two vehicles have totally different clearance departure, break over and approach angles, they both boast of an incredible clearance level of 10 inches.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just as the name suggests, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the biggest of the Cherokee SUV’s and as expected, it has the highest clearance level.

For the Trail hawk trim, the monster ride comes with a 10.8 inches standard ground clearance level. This complements with the 22.8-degree break over angle, 27.q degree departure angle and a 25.7-degree approach angle. This makes it perfect for any rough, off-road terrain derive.
